Don’t Make Excuses, Make an Appointment

Not enough time. It’s not really that bad. Everyone else’s needs are more important. These are only a few of the many reasons people come up with to not see a doctor about vein issues. Do any of these excuses sound familiar to you? It can be hard to decide when the right time to see a vein specialist r is; but if you are here, reading this article, there’s a good chance you are having issues with your vein health that shouldn’t go untreated.

Are you experiencing leg weakness or heaviness? At the end of the day, if your legs feel unusually weak or heavy, varicose veins could be the culprit. If the blood in your veins isn’t pumping back up to your heart, then it will pool in your legs, especially if you’ve been standing all day long at work. As the blood pools, the pressure increases causing aching, heaviness, and fatigue.

Does your leg pain and achiness interfere with your life? Leg pain can be cause by a number of issues, but if your pain is achy or throbbing it could be caused by varicose veins. It can be easy to dismiss this achiness, but if it is keeping you from being active or participating in regular activities, it’s definitely time to see a vein doctor.

Is your leg swelling gone in the morning? If your lower leg or legs swell during the day, but are relieved after being elevated over-night, this is a sign that blood is not being properly pumped back up to your heart and points to the development of varicose veins.

Do you have dry, itchy skin on your legs? High blood pressure levels in damaged veins can cause dry, itchy skin to appear on your skin, or discoloration and swelling around your ankle. Your skin is telling you that your blood isn’t being pumped back up to your heart.

Have you developed a sore near a varicose vein? Over time, as blood pools in your leg, the skin near the vein stretches and leg ulcers can develop. These ulcers are painful and can be difficult to heal without getting treatment from a doctor.

Is your mental health suffering because you don’t like the look of your legs? When you don’t like the way you look, it can be hard to feel good about yourself. This is normal. If your mental well being is being affected by varicose veins or spider veins, it’s time to seek treatment.

Don’t let excuses keep you from seeking the medical help that you might need.
