Simple Exercises | Incredible Results

Committing to a gym membership is tough. Besides being incredibly expensive, working out at a public gym can pose all kinds of problems for the casual athlete. Sharing machines, commuting to the gym, dressing in nasty locker rooms, and feeling the constant attention of ‘gym-rats’ can be overwhelming. Luckily, you get in shape or stay in shape without ever having to set foot in a gym or a weight room. Here are 4 essential exercises to keep you in shape from the comfort of your own home:

Side Plank

The side plank is one of the best easy exercises to help strengthen your core. Lie on your right side with your knees extended. Prop your body up on your right elbow and forearm, which should be directly underneath your shoulder. Tighten your core, then raise your hips until your body forms a line from your ankles to your shoulders. Hold for 30 seconds, then repeat on the other side.

Hip Raise

Another great exercise, the hip raise can help hit those hard to get muscles in your core. To start, lie on your back with your feet flat on the floor and knees bent. Keep your core tight, squeeze your glutes, and raise your hips so that your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees. Keep squeezing your glutes and hold this position for 5 seconds before slowly lowering back to the ground. Repeat 10 times.
